Choice of Short Strands of Antique Phenolic Resin Beads - Rita Okrent Collection (ANT525)A selection of short strands of mixed old Phenolic resin beads from the African Trade. Circa 1950's, approximately, these beads were produced in Europe for the African Trade, and were made to resemble real amber (especially an issue after access to Baltic amber became limited after WWII). These beads are traditionally used as hair beads and worn in necklaces by African women, and come through Mauritania to eventually land in Rita's collection.
