Comper Cathedral Silk DamaskDesigned by Sir Ninian Comper towards the end of the 19th century, this fine, rich pattern is based on a Renaissance pattern found in the National Gallery, London. It features Comper's signature strawberry, which honours his late father's devotion to the poor (according to tradition he died while distributing strawberries to the poor). Some similarities can also be found with some of William Morris' fabric designs. This beautiful, large scale pattern
The orphreys are of English origin
