Orvis 1874 Trout Fly Reel - ReproductionFor sale here is a 1990's reproduction of the rare C. F. Orvis 1874 Trout Reel. The reel is marked C. F. Orvis Maker, Patented Manchester, VT. Serial number 074 of 250. Ventilated narrow spool. The diameter is 2 7 8". Includes walnut box with section for detachable handle. Mint unfished.
For sale here is an Orvis Model 99 bamboo rod -- 9' 2/1 6-7wt with a marked weight of 6 1/8 oz
Black spool and sideplate with a silver rim and foot
Down lock screw lock with a butternut spacer and a N
A large arbor design gives the angler over one foot of line retrieve per revolution
Straw-colored blonde cane with olive wraps and Chinese red tipping
George Halstead was also at Orvis during this time frame
The decals/labels on the rod are in excellent condition
Original green bag and very fine leather tube with brass fittings
though the owner's name could have been written by Jack Young
A truly wonderful trout rod
a double set of caliper actuated
There is no evidence of a repair on this tip though
