Four Fifths (wood print | green and black on a blue and black background)I love sugar skulls. My idea for this drawing also inspired my idea for this entire series of drawings and a new direction for my art. I wanted to draw a detailed sugar skull and decided I wanted a sort of sun burst background but I wanted it to have a pattern texture to it. So I added a kind of antique wallpaper pattern to a sunburst of melaleuca tree bark. Made perfect sense to me. This is also the first piece that I colorized. It was too much fun

I really like the texture of the flamingo that I came up with and what better way to add a pattern than to add a flamingo wallpaper as the background

They have so many segments to their skin it makes them a very interesting subject

I wanted textures and patterns to be an emphasis in this piece also

My idea for this piece was as much about drawing a bunch of pebbles and tree bark as it was about drawing a skeleton

Baby Sea Turtles - What can I say I really like drawing sea turtles

I like to depict my subject with unusual texture I wanted to add a texture that would illustrate the treacherous nature of luck

I really enjoy drawing sea turtles and wanted to do a piece that was distinctly Florida without being obvious
