Technical Details of Cisco QSFP to SFP/SFP+ Adapter (QSA) Module

  • Technical details are not provided in the current listing. For precise specifications, environmental ratings, and UPC/SKU-based data, please consult Cisco’s official documentation or the retailer’s specifications page using the relevant product identifiers.

how to install Cisco QSFP to SFP/SFP+ Adapter (QSA) Module

  • Before installation, verify that your Cisco switch supports QSA breakout modules and review vendor guidelines for compatible platforms and slot requirements. If your platform supports hot-swapping, you may install the module with the system powered on; otherwise, follow the device’s maintenance procedure to power down prior to insertion to minimize risk.
  • Identify the QSFP port intended for breakout and remove any protective covers or dust caps from the QSFP slot to ensure a clean insertion path. Inspect the area for clearance and airflow to prevent impedance or overheating after installation.
  • Insert the QSA module firmly into the QSFP port until it seats securely. Ensure the module is aligned correctly and that there is no excessive force. A proper seating is essential for reliable electrical contact and stable link negotiation across all breakout lanes.
  • Install four SFP/SFP+ transceivers into the breakout paths and connect the corresponding cables (fiber or copper) to the downstream devices. If using fiber, verify the correct wavelength/rate and pair with appropriate LC/SC or other compatible connectors. If using copper DAC, ensure the DAC cables match the SFP+ specifications and supported lengths.
  • Power on (if required by your platform) and verify the breakout links using your switch’s management interface or CLI. Confirm that all four 10G links are up, configure any link aggregation (if used) or routing policies, and monitor for interface errors. Document the topology and ensure that monitoring tools reflect the new breakout configuration for ongoing performance visibility.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a QSA module?

A QSA (QSFP to SFP/SFP+ Adapter) module is a breakout device that converts a single 40G QSFP+ port into four independent 10G SFP/SFP+ interfaces. This enables you to run four separate 10G links from one 40G port, increasing port density and enabling flexible network designs.

  • Do I need new cables or transceivers?

Depending on your existing infrastructure, you may reuse compatible SFP/SFP+ transceivers and cables for the breakout links. Fiber-based SFP/SFP+ transceivers and copper DAC cables are common choices for the breakout lanes, but verify compatibility with your network gear and distance requirements.

  • Is the QSA module hot-swappable?

On supported Cisco platforms, QSA modules are designed for hot-swapping, allowing insertion or removal without powering down the device. Always consult your vendor guidelines for platform-specific recommendations and best practices before performing a hot-swap.

  • Which devices support Cisco QSA breakout modules?

This module is intended for Cisco switches and routers that explicitly support QSA breakout functionality. Check Cisco’s interoperability matrices and your device’s hardware/software release notes to confirm compatibility and supported configurations.

  • What performance considerations should I expect with a breakout?

Breaking a 40G link into four 10G links distributes bandwidth across multiple interfaces. Aggregate throughput remains high, but each individual link is limited to 10G. Real-world performance depends on transceiver quality, cable length, network design, and how well the links are managed (including any aggregation or load-balancing configurations).

Smart, powerful, and genuinely makes daily life easier
Color: Black, Size: L40 Ultra Gen 2
I bought this robot vacuum recently and have been using it for several days now. So far, I’m really impressed. It is smart, powerful, and very convenient for daily cleaning. The biggest highlight for me is how well it avoids obstacles. It can recognize and move around things in the house automatically, so I don’t have to constantly watch it or move everything out of the way before starting a cleaning session. That makes it feel much more worry-free compared with other cleaning tools. The suction power is also very strong. For everyday floor cleaning, I honestly feel like it does an excellent job, even compared with my Dyson handheld vacuum. It picks up dust and debris well, and the cleaning result has been very satisfying. Another feature I really appreciate is the scheduling. I can set it to clean automatically every day, and it just takes care of the floors by itself. This has saved a lot of time and effort for both me and my wife. After using it, I feel like a good robot vacuum is almost as important as a dishwasher. It reduces a lot of daily housework and gives us more time to focus on work, hobbies, entertainment, and family life. It has quickly become a useful companion in our home. I have only used it for several days, so I can’t speak to long-term durability yet, but my first impression is very positive. If you are looking for a smart, powerful, and hands-free cleaning helper, I would definitely recommend this robot vacuum.

Very thorough and efficient cleaning
Color: Black, Size: L40 Ultra Gen 2
I've been using Roomba vacuums and mops for about fifteen years now, and truly loved them. My Braava mop recently wasn't working well, so I started researching again for the best robot mop. Anytime I've done that before, it was always a Roomba product that seemed to be rated best, but this time it was this Dreame dual vacuum and mop - I hadn't even heard of Dreame. Based on reviews and price, I decided to go for it. I am LOVING this machine! It cleans significantly more thoroughly AND faster than any Roomba I've had. My main floor is probably around 1500sq. ft. My previous Roomba took about 6 hours cleaning it. The Dreame takes just over 2 hours, and results in a noticeably cleaner floor. I have a lady that comes and cleans part of my house once a month, and she thought I must have done an extra intensive clean of my floors for an event. I hadn't told her anything about the new machine, but she noticed a significant difference in the cleanliness of my floors. It's great with picking up dog hair that is everywhere in my house. It has a strong suction for rugs - the door mats used to still have dust that I could shake out after Roomba went over them, not anymore. And I used to have to get down and scrub the area around my dog's food and water dishes because Roomba couldn't mop up that mess. I haven't had to do that in the two months or so since I've had Dreame. I thought it was really strange that it didn't come with the container for the cleaning solution, but thought I'd try it for awhile just with water. So far, I haven't found a reason to pay extra for that container or the solution! Water alone is doing a thorough job! The timer feature works very well, and I appreciate that it sends me a text notice when a particular part needs cleaning or adjustment or whatever. And it includes a link to show where that part is and what to actually do. The communication of the maintenance of the machine has been very good so far. I used to have Roomba run daily, but I have Dreame just running three days a week, and I have cleaner floors! It DOES talk loudly, such as, "Cleaning mop pads." But you can time it to run when the talking won't bother you. Overall, it's a good bit quieter than my Roomba. It gets louder when it's vacuuming rugs, but most of my floor is hard wood or tile, so it's mainly relatively quiet. The two aspects that were better with Roomba were that Roomba fit under my couches to clean (this is too tall), and it was significantly easier to clean hair out of the omnidirectional wheel and brushes of Roomba. I paid $550 for this, and it has been WELL worth the money!

Very Easy Warranty Claim Process!!
I have purchased a lot of Asurion warranties for products on Amazon over the past 5 years. This is the first time I've had to use the warranty. The Tineco vacuum mop that I purchased wasn't working well at all. I looked online to see how to file a warranty claim with Asurion. I had purchased the top line Tineco almost 3 years ago and my warranty was for 3 years. I was concerned that there might be an issue due to the amount and/or because the warranty was getting close to the end of the warranty period (3 years). Filing the claim was all online and walked you through all of the steps - very easy to follow and understand. They emailed a shipping label to me (they paid for shipping) and sent the Tineco to them. I figured it would be a lengthy and difficult process. After they received everything, they promptly denied the claim and closed the it. They said my personal information didn't match. I called them and discovered that since I was using a different email address, they couldn't match it up. The customer service agent changed the information and refiled the claim for me. I received another shipping label and used it to ship the Tineco back to them. They notified me when they received the Tineco and told me they would let me know after the repair department had looked at it. I received notification within a few hours that they could not fix it and would issue an Amazon Gift Card for the price that I paid for the Tineco (no tax included, of course). The Gift Card was in my account within a few hours! That had to be the easiest warranty claim I've ever made! I highly recommend Asurion for their warranties. The only thing I would suggest is that they change the warranty documentation to make it clear that they need the email address you filed the claim under and give you a place to put your new email address, if it has changed. I will not hesitate to continue to purchase Asurion warranties for products on Amazon! I like the idea of the monthly claim amount that is available for $16.99 per month, but you would have to buy a lot of products and warranty them for that to be equitable. I did the math and realized that I would have to purchase warranties for products that total $2,039 - $4,078 per year, every year (based on the charge of 10%-15% per warranty) to equal what I would pay for the individual warranties. I don't buy that many products that need warranties though, so it's not a value for me at all. IF I purchased the monthly warranty ($16.99 per month) and later decided that I didn't want to continue to pay that amount, none of my products would be warrantied! So, I had to really think about it first. I couldn't justify the monthly charge forever for the amount of products I purchase that can be warrantied. } Asurion - please consider offering the same warranty at a lower price per month - maybe you could put a cap on the dollar amount allowed to make it feasible for everyone. I would be very interested if the price wasn't so much.

Well, worth it
Well worth it my robot vacuum stopped working properly. It would not find it’s station and would wonder until the battery died. I was able to get a refund and buy a replacement.
