Good Timing

Good TimingWhen people talk about fall color in the western US, they refer to the changing Aspen leaves. In Aspendell, a suburb of Bishop, California, I found a stand of Aspen that was peaking, as you can see the full range of color in this one section of trees. A couple hundred feet of elevation higher and the leaves were nearly gone, a couple hundred feet lower and there was no color shift. So, for this location it was perfect timing! this is a single frame semi-long exposure taken a few minutes before sunset in the wine country of temecula valley (the grape vines pictured here had just been recently harvested by lorimar winery for their newest cabernet sauvignon vintage)

i chose to use the

yet i wanted to blur the middle ground of the image (lens blur using large aperture) to make the sunflower stand out
