deepeeka 4th century germanic spathaThe spatha is based on originals that were used by Germanic auxiliae serving in the Roman army between the 2nd and 5th century AD. Contrary to the gladius, the spatha was longer and was employed as a slashing weapon. This spatha has a grip crafted from wood and bone, and is supplied complete with a scabbard.

The pourpoint was originally developed as a variant of the gambeson but was later also worn in an unpadded version as everyday clothing
