Omothymus violaceopes 3/4”size 3 4 One of my favorite Asian arboreal species. Described by Henry Charles Abraham of the U. K. in 1924 originally as Lampropelma violaceopedes. Later in 2015 it was moved to the Omothymus genus by Smith & Jacobi. This is a large arboreal spider with an attitude. Its beautiful royal blue color and long slender body can get up to 8 9. Having one of these rear up in a threat posture is quite the sight, and they often do.

This spider can get up to 6 inches and it’s know for its hairs that turn in a upward direction giving them a super fluffy appearance

This is a very sought after true spider from the Mediterranean

A fairly new species to the hobby from Colombia that gets about 4 inches as adults

Described in 1897 by legendary British zoologist Reginald Innes Pocock
